Our story
It all started in the year 2002, in the kitchen of a Malaysian mother whose strong passion for baking led her to discover a new recipe while playing with the shape and texture of the roti dough. With the excitement of her newest discovery, she hopes to create a brand new version of the bun, a roti bun.
In 2002, she created a round roti bun with a coffee caramel coating on the outside and a rich salted butter filling on the inside. She handed one to his son and watched questionably as he took a deep bite into its tender and moist inside. His face instantaneously lighted up, and the bright smile on his face as he chewed on the bun was totally unmistakable. This moment would birth a multi-national brand that would put a pleasant smile on people’s faces across the globe. PappaRoti, “Father of all Buns,” is born.
Established since 2003
The first Papparoti store was opened in Malaysia in 2003, selling freshly baked roti buns out of the oven. The buns, which have their crunchy surface glazed with a perfectly made sweet caramelized coffee pastry and a secret luscious pastry of salted butter in their fluffy inside, were incredibly tempting to everybody who has had a taste of it. After a bite, they kept on asking for more. Most people will combine it with toothsome varieties of tea and coffee while they have great conversations and all shades of fun in the store.
PappaRoti Michigan
PappaRoti’s extension into Michigan marked a new point in the company’s history. Michigan is a place where cultural diversity is quite prominent. The different backgrounds of her population have made the city cosmopolitan, with an expansive spectrum of cultural diversities. Michigan has a wide variety of cuisines that are subjective across cultures. While new immigrants have filled this amazingly great city with their local dishes and culinary legacy, something great was definitely missing from the scene, and that is PappaRoti.
